Adventures Await! Beavers' First Camp at Elgin!

We're so incredibly proud of our youngest adventurers – the Beaver Scouts! This past weekend marked a huge milestone for many of them as they embarked on their very first camp experience at 1st Elgin Scouts Campsite. The excitement was palpable from the moment they arrived, bags packed and smiles wide, ready for a weekend of fun, friendship, and new discoveries.

Camping is such a fundamental part of the Scouting journey, and it’s always a joy to see the Beavers embrace it with such enthusiasm. For many, it was their first time sleeping in a tent, and the novelty of it all was definitely a highlight. After setting up their sleeping bags and getting settled, the adventures truly began!

Exploring Nature's Playground

Elgin offered a fantastic backdrop for our activities. The Beavers got stuck into some brilliant outdoor games, honing their teamwork skills and burning off lots of energy. Beavers learned how to pitch tents and learned how to cook chocolate cake on a campfire.

Campfire Magic and Starlit Skies

As evening drew in, the real magic happened. We gathered around a crackling campfire, singing songs, telling stories, and of course, toasting marshmallows! The sticky, sweet treats were definitely a hit, and the warmth of the fire created a cozy atmosphere as the stars began to twinkle overhead.

Building Friendships and Confidence

Beyond the fun and games, camp is also about building independence and confidence. The Beavers helped with simple tasks, learned to look after their belongings, and most importantly, supported each other. Watching them laugh together, encourage one another, and forge new friendships warmed all our leaders' hearts. They truly embodied the Beaver Scout motto: "Fun and Friends."

A Weekend to Remember

As Sunday morning arrived, it was time to pack up, but not before one last round of games and a hearty breakfast. Tired but happy, the Beavers headed home, full of stories and memories that will last a lifetime. They faced new challenges, learned new skills, and made incredible memories. This first camp was a resounding success, and we can't wait to see what adventures await these amazing young people next!
